The Turkish Statistical Institute has announced its April 2018 home-sales statistics. Güçlü İnşaat Chairman of the Board Hüseyin Çelik made the following statement: nationwide home sales in April 2018 fell compared with the same month of the previous year.
TÜİK has announced its April 2018 home-sales statistics. Güçlü İnşaat Chairman of the Board Hüseyin Çelik commented on the figures:
Home sales across Türkiye fell by 9.9% in April 2018 compared with the same month of the previous year, and 103,087 homes were sold. Istanbul had the largest share of home sales, with 17,414 homes sold and a share of 16.9%. We believe the decline in home sales will be reversed and sales will rise again with the VAT reduction, a 20% discount on home sales and mortgage interest rates falling below 1%. These new measures will increase investment in the real-estate sector.
Sales to foreign buyers, meanwhile, rose by 25.8% compared with the same month last year. A total of 2,043 homes were sold to foreign buyers in April. We expect this increase, which demonstrates foreign investors’ confidence in our country, to give further momentum to home sales across the country in the period ahead.
